Dedications

This novel is dedicated to Vincent van Gogh. When I lay my eyes upon your paintings, my heart leaps with joy. When I read your letters, I visit a friend with thoughts in harmony with my own. You were born in March 1853, I in February 1953. We bridge a distance of one hundred years. I thank you.

To Jesse Brian Broderick (May 31, 1981 - July 9, 2000), the music CD of this novel is dedicated to you with love. I shall remember you and our bear hugs forever.

My Gratitude

To my son, David Jonathan Arechiga-Pacini, being your mother is the coolest thing I've ever done. You will always be my son and my sun. I love you.

To my mother, Genell, like van Gogh you taught passion and compassion with your life. You taught me how to write and allowed me to learn what to write on my own. When I was six, you armed me with my own library card, claiming it would always be one of my most valuable possessions. It has been. Thank you for singing Momma. Your amazing voice still dances inside my heart. I hear it in every song I write.

Acknowledgments
I.

This novel never would have been written had I not received encouragement from five dear friends. They inspired me to turn the short story into a novel.

On behalf of all the fictional characters of Emma's Love Letters, I humbly thank the late Katy Brown, Tim Christensen, Karin Fay, Robert Peterson, and Charles Rankin.

Vincent's House in Arles (The Yellow House)

“My house here is painted butter yellow on the outside and has solid green window shutters; it is located directly in a square with green park full of plane-trees, oleanders and acacias. And inside all the walls are painted white and the floor is tiled in red. Yet the most striking thing is the glaring blue sky. Inside the house I can really live and breathe and think and paint."--Vincent van Gogh. (He lived in the house from May 1888 till April 1889.)
