Tommy Merry Biography

D.B. Pacini first learned of Tommy Merry when he volunteered to perform for Phoenix Rising.
She was touched by his down-to-earth friendliness and his heart's desire to help others;
so she went to one of his gigs to hear him. The scene in Emma's Love Letters where Candy
describes to Maria "his" experience, when he first heard/saw Tommy Merry, is the factual
experience Pacini had the first time she saw Tommy perform. "I slipped between a stack of
music speakers and instrument cases and positioned myself about four feet from his guitar
neck. I was intrigued by the audience's reaction and also by a flash I could not identify which
was sparking from his left hand. His hand was moving so damn fast, all I saw was a flash of gold.
When he stopped playing I saw that it was his wedding ring. Tommy is incredible."
In spite of juggling several creative arts projects, Tommy Merry has been supportive of the Emma's Love
Letters project from day one. He is impressed with the Guitars Not Guns (GNG) program, and
although he personally does not have time to volunteer as a GNG guitar instructor, he has a guitar
lessons section on his website where he provides free beginning to advanced lessons. Also, he is
happy to answer questions in his guest book that are guitar, lessons, or musically related.
Tommy plans to add an even more extensive selection of new lessons in the near future as well as
video clips.
When asked why he is so generous in providing free lessons he replied simply, "I have a great
desire to be one of the best free resources for guitar lessons on the Internet. I work toward
that goal daily. 'Guitars Not Guns' was my philosophy even before I learned about the GNG program."
Tommy's website provides information re: his music and filming projects.
